Heartland R.S. Prussia History
The Heartland club had its origin in 1988 at the International Association of R.S. Prussia Collectors, Inc. meeting held in St. Louis. Following one of the educational sessions, several members from the Midwest met to discuss the possibility of forming an R.S. Prussia club in our region. There was a positive feeling among those present, and plans were made to set a date and invite prospective members. The group decided to meet in Omaha, Nebraska, in November.

A meeting was held with about 30 interested collectors in attendance. Officers were elected as follows: President, Walt Krzycki, Nebraska; Secretary/Treasurer, Gordon & Janell Sweeter, South Dakota; and Newsletter Editor, C.L. Riley. A committee was appointed to suggest a name for the organization. Margaret Henbest of Missouri suggested the Heartland R.S. Prussia Collectors' Club because the membership represented those states in the Heartland of the country.

Meetings were set for the first weekend in November and March. During the first years of the club, all meetings were held in Omaha, Nebraska, with Rose Ellen Beyer making the arrangements.
The Heartland Club adopted the International Association of R.S. Prussia Collectors' constitution and by-laws. Educational programs and tours have long been a part of the meetings.

The Heartland Club has been pleased to sponsor some of the International Conventions: 1992, Omaha, Nebraska, Regency West Motel; 1996, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Collins Plaza Hotel; and 2000, Omaha, Nebraska, Doubletree Hotel. The Heartland club will sponsor the 2005 International Convention at the Embassy Suites in Kansas City, Missouri.
There are presently members from nine states in the Heartland area. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in collecting R.S. Prussia. Membership information is available from any member of the Heartland Club or from the membership page
